UK brand deals and digital sales count, overseas platform ad revenue does not, and tips only count once they buy a perk. Your real headroom, stream by stream.
Creator VAT Threshold Tracker
Not every stream counts toward the £90,000 registration test. This is which ones do, and how close you actually are.
The rules doing the work
UK brand deals, UK affiliate commissions and anything sold to consumers count toward the rolling £90,000 test. Ad revenue billed to an overseas platform is outside the scope of UK VAT and does not count.
Genuine voluntary tips with no perks attached are not payment for a supply. The moment a tip buys a perk, a shout-out tier or early access, it is a membership and it counts.
The test is any rolling twelve months, checked monthly, not the tax year. The demo creator counts £30,000 of £40,800 and holds £60,000 of headroom, which is comfort now and a diary note at double the brand rate.

Fresh takes on business and accounting.
Trading profit is split on a time basis. Interest, rent, gains, donations and dividends each follow their own rule, and mixing them up misstates both accounting periods.
A long period of account needs two separate capital allowances computations, and since April 2026 they are not even calculated at the same writing down rate.
Company law allows accounts to run for 18 months; corporation tax never allows an accounting period longer than 12. Here is how the split is drawn.
