Payslip Calculator
A payslip is four subtractions: pension, income tax, National Insurance and, for many, a student loan. Enter your salary and see all four on 2026/27 rates, month by month.

Your income after pension sits between £100,000 and £125,140, where the personal allowance tapers away and the true marginal rate on salary reaches roughly 60% before National Insurance. Pension contributions in this window are unusually valuable.
2026/27 rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, standard 1257L code, annual averaging: individual months can differ from real PAYE. Pension modelled as net pay, reducing income tax but not NI or student loan; salary sacrifice would reduce all three. Scotland taxes salary on different bands.

The workbook version shows every step of all four deductions, keeps each rate and threshold in an editable cell, and adds a salary ladder across eight pay levels where the 60% trap between £100,000 and £125,140 becomes visible in a single column.

Fresh takes on business and accounting.
Company law allows accounts to run for 18 months; corporation tax never allows an accounting period longer than 12. Here is how the split is drawn.
The associated companies rules get more involved once a group has layers. Sub-subsidiaries, dormant holding companies and short accounting periods, worked through in a single example.
An acquisition partway through the year still counts as an associated company for the whole accounting period. What that does to your thresholds, and to your tax bill.
