Everyone tracks retention. Far fewer track the gap between what they applied for and what was actually certified, and on the worked figures that gap is £6,700 against £5,790 of retention. The second half of the retention never gets chased
Half comes back at practical completion, half at the end of the defects liability period, often a year later. The second one falls due when the job is long finished and nobody is looking at the file. The sheet holds both release dates so it gets chased rather than remembered.
