Who this workbook is for

Anyone who prices the rota at the headline wage

Every hourly row carries the full build-up automatically: holiday accrual at 12.07 per cent, employer NIC and the minimum pension, the same arithmetic as the Staff Cost per Hour Calculator. A rota priced at £12.71 an hour is under-costed by more than a quarter, and thirty shifts a week compound that quickly. Salaried roles go in at weekly cost, on-costs included.

Anyone who finds out the labour percentage on payday

The sheet reads the week against forecast sales and your target before anyone works it: the demo rota prices at 28.9 per cent against a 32 target, £604 of headroom for the Saturday you did not forecast. Over target, it says what to trim in pounds while the rota is still a plan; the Labour Percentage Calculator then scores the week that actually happened.

Anyone with a mixed-age crew

The wage floors differ by age band, £12.71, £10.85 and £8.00 from 1 April 2026, and so do the loaded rates on top of them, because the NIC and pension thresholds spread differently across part-time hours. The planner prices each row at its own hours and rate, so the weekend crew costs what it actually costs.
